About Dr. Livstone
Dr. Livstone graduated from Yale University School of Medicine. He did his Gastroenterology training at Yale and stayed on the faculty at Yale for 10 years before opening his private practice in Sarasota in 1984. During his years as a professor at Yale, he advanced his own knowledge and trained other physicians to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders. In Sarasota, in addition to his private practice, he has served as Chief of Medicine at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for two years, Treasurer of the Sarasota County Medical Society for eight years, and the Principle Investigator of a research project evaluating photodynamic therapy (laser-light activated medication) of Barrett's Esophagus and esophageal cancer. Dr. Livstone has authored more than 60 scientific papers and has been a regular contributor to every edition of the Merck Manual (professional, home, and internet editions) since 1983. He has been listed in every edition of the "Top Doctors in America" since 1998. He has also been profiled in Sarasota Magazine and in Who's Who.
