Mission Statement

We endeavor to provide university medical center quality diagnostic, treatment, and medical management services for people with digestive disorders. We combine modern technology with the age-old practice of taking the time to establish a doctor-patient dialogue. We want our patients to feel cared for in this practice and not rushed out of the office; we do this by providing personal attention from the doctor and from the office staff. Although endoscopic procedures are an important part of every gastroenterology practice, endoscopy is only one of the tools we utilize for diagnosis and treatment; the performance of an endoscopic procedure is not the ultimate goal itself – solving your problem and making you comfortable is our prime objective. We listen carefully to your story, perform physical examination when indicated, and, in addition to any endoscopic procedures which are indicated, obtain laboratory testing, radiological imaging, nuclear medicine imaging, breath Hydrogen gas chromatography, and M2A capsule video endoscopy (the swallowed camera capsule) – whatever it takes to gather appropriate medical evidence for a substantiated diagnosis and to formulate an appropriate treatment plan for you.

We endeavor to make this medical practice a patient-centered practice rather than a doctor-centered practice.  By the same token, our responsibility is to our patients and not to the shareholders of any health insurance company or to any health care system.

A great deal of technology is available in the 21st century, and we are always mindful of the fact that just because something can be done does not mean that it should be done.  We always think about the risk/benefit ratio and the cost/benefit ratio as it relates to the individual patient before we recommend any test, procedure, or treatment.
